A ticket to the Lovehammers concert at Metro was marked up by 95.5%. If the original price was $10, what was the final price including fees (the marked up price)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well this word problem can be turned into the equation... $10 * .955 + $10 = Final price

OpenStudy (anonymous):

increasing a number by 100% would be the same as doubling it. So you just multiply the cost by the marked up price 95.5%. The percent sign means out of 100 so it's really 95.5/100. Then you add that to the original price since it is being marked up. That gets you the solution.
