is the keygen website really capable of converting any software from trial to pro version?
depends on the website.. and there's no such thing as a keygen website, there are websites that host keygens and cracks. Most are illegitimate, very few are legitimate.
The legitimate cracks and keygens are in fact capable of converting any software from trial to pro version.
@farmdawgnation wouldn't be happy to see this...
^agreed
I believe a "keygen" is short for key generator...or basically that which generates a serial or key code/number. If the serial number that is generated is for a trial version of the software than some other additional crack will have to be used to make the software think the trial will last forever or something to that effect. If the keygen creates a serial number for a purchased version of the software, than no additional crack is needed. I am no expert, but I believe that this is somewhat correct. Someone else commented on the legitimacy of keygens...Honestly, I do not know what kind of keygen would be legitimate. A keygen is used when you don't have access to a real serial number. I would think they are mostly used to pirate software such as Adobe Photoshop or Microsoft Word. I mean, I guess software companies probably have internal keygens for customers who lose their software boxes and stuff and that would then be legitimate. There is no single website that has all key codes for software. Keygen programs can be downloaded and I am sure many websites offer keygen searches. All of it is dangerous due to laws and viruses.
so we shouldnt trust any keygen and crack?
just build your own keygens :P
Or, you can use open source software that doesn't require keygens.
good point ;)
Webster say trust means "to rely on the truthfulness or accuracy of." You asked, "so we shouldnt trust any keygen and crack?" I would not trust anything out there that has the purpose of being illegitimate in the first place...or anything that seems to good to be true. I am not saying that ALL keygens are not trustworthy or safe. I may have used keygens myself and have been just fine. Just make sure you have some good antivirus software running and understand that you could always be that one in a million that gets busted for piracy so they can make an example. Don't fully trust anything online -- ever. Always be aware of the slight possibilities and accept them if they occur.
You should consider how much of your personal work you're willing to have stolen from you and crack in accordance with that ethos. When I pay $800 for say, a Photoshop license, I consider it a *bargain*. I know *I* couldn't build an app like that for $800.
