Who was the "Veneral Bede"?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The Venerable Bede was an English monk renowned for his scholarship. St. Benedict founded the Bendectine order of monks, and his Rule indeed includes an admonishment to economy in speech, as well as certain periods of strict silence, e.g. after Compline. Petrarch was a humanist and poet of the early Italian Renaissance, and St. Scholastica is the twin sister of St. Benedict. Although she was a nun herself, she most likely followed the Rule of her brother.
