The number of baseball cards in Neil's collection is 80 percent of the number in Larry's collection. If Neil has 80 fewer baseball cards than Larry, how many do they have altogether?

so L=400
so Neil has 320 cards while Larry has 400
so they have 720 cards altogther

Wow, I was actually right!
Neil has 80% of Larry's # of cards. Neil has 80 cards less than Larry This means that the 80 cards is the 20% that he doesn't have. If Neil has 80%, then, 80 x 4 = 320 cards Neil has 320 cards. 80 x 5 = 400 cards Larry has 400 cards. Altogether, 720 cards.
