OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do you become a moderator?

OpenStudy (turingtest):

This question is probably the most frequently asked in feedback. I hope this answer becomes more public to avoid repetition. The answer is simply that you act as a good user, and wait patiently for administration to notice and need your help. There is no application, and no moderator I know of has ever asked to become one.

Cool!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Basically it takes forever, but administration will eventually recognize that you are a mature user

OpenStudy (compassionate):

You become a moderator by not trying to get moderator. You'll receive the rank once the staff thinks you're mature enough. Asking for moderator actually decreases your chance of becoming one.

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

It's not just about maturity, it's also about need and alignment with our goals for the community. When we need more moderators, we look for people who are great participants of the community and who understand the way the community should grow.
