Ford's success came partly from what and why

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you mean Henry Ford, the automaker, one of his major contributions was the manufacturing process he used for building cars. Instead of a team of guys building a car from top to bottom, he moved the vehicle down the line through several different teams who added parts to the car as it went along. This sped up production and gave birth to the modern assembly line that we see in manufacturing today in nearly everything from autos to computers. He also paid his workers a wage that also afforded them the opportunity to buy the cars they made and invested in building up an automotive infrastructure with gas stations and factories, seeding the foundations for the middle class.
