I need help on this question, The January daily high temperatures in Rockland, Me., USA is considered the most variable in the world. A random sample of 40 January daily highs were selected from data of the last 30 years. The values ranged from a low of -19.4 °C to a high of -3°C. What class width would be useful?

ok the range is - 19.4 to -3 the to group in classes you might nees a class width of 1.0 -3.0 - -3.9 -4.0 - -4.9 -5.0 - - 5.9 etc or you could increase the class width to 2 units -3.0 - - 4.9 -5.0 - -6.9 - 7.0 = -8.9 etc or change to a width of 5 0.0 - -4.9 - 5.0 - 9.9 - 10.0 - 14.9 -15.0 - 19.9 probably the class width of 2 may be the best.
