A diver is on the 10m platform, preparing to perform a dive. The diver's height above the water, in metres, at time t can be modelled using the equation h(t) = 10 + 2t - 4.9t^2.. determine when the diver will enter water.. i know you do: 0=10 + 2t - 2.9t^2, but i do not know how to isolate t.. the answer is suppose to be 1.65

Solve for t using the quadratic formula. You'll get two answers for t. One of them is negative, which can't be the answer since you assume the time at which he starts is 0.

is there another way without using quadratic formula?

There's many methods. You could also complete the square, for example. The quadratic formula is probably the easiest, though.
