Describe the influence of the three parameters, A, k, and n, on the shape of the graph of the Hill function y=(AX^n)/(x^n+k^n)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is x the only variable?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For example y=(3x)/(1.2+x) , y=(3x^2)/(1.2^2+x^2), y=(3x^5)/(1.2^5+x^5)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So, at heart, it is 1/x^n, right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I guess so

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I wrote the question excatly as the textbook asks for

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, I am sure u did, I am just trying to get a handle on it... All the other pieces are constants of sone sort or another doing something to 1/x^n. eg the net effect of all the constants could be that it just scales by k to k/x^n

OpenStudy (anonymous):

?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you be more specific

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry, I misled you there, should have used some other letter, p, say....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Let's take the A. all that is doing is scaling the output by a multiple of A

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What does this function represent, does it go rapidly to 0?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1348428159907:dw|I am not quite sure what u r asking for but the function is something like this
