On a school map, the points (-7, -2), (-7, 4), (-1, -2), and (-1, 4) represent the four corners of a sand park. What are the coordinates of the center of the sand park?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Find the slop of opposite corners. then set both equations equal to each other. then solve for x!

@jusgig97 Sketch the coordinates of the points on graph paper. They appear to form a special rectangle which you will recognize. If so, you can get the coordinates of the center of the sand lot by counting unit squares on the graph paper. You also could find the coordinates of the intersection of the diagonals of the quadrilateral formed by the sand lot coordinates.
