time rate prob.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

During the first 40 sec of a rockext flight, the rocket is propelled straight up so that in t sec it reaches a height of s = 0.3t^3 ft. What is the average velocity of the rocket during the first 1000 ft of its flight? What is the instantaneous velocity of the rocket at the end of 40 sec?

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

s = (3/10)t^3 average velocity is displacement/time so we need to find out what t is first so 1000 = (3/10)t^3 solve for t then divide 1000/t for part 2: can you take the derivative?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

t = 14.94 and 1000/t = 66.93

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

word, and the derivative?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

derivative of s= (3/10)t^3?
