can i get some tips on writing stories. and explain how to write conversations in them using examples. i need to know what punctuations should go where
first of all you need to brainstorm what is your story about and in what order you are going to tell it. consider asking yourself: point of view ie first person, second, or third person Second thing you are going to do is make an outline this is going to look like a story but it is not basically you are jotting down your ideas in a logical order --what you exactly want to say Once you think you have enough ideas you can then start writing your story from beginning to end. this is much more like essay writing but a story has much less of strict format and almost everything is dependent on the writer. things you must have: a beginning or introduction of your story which must include the setting of your story ie time, place, date a body part of the story where all of your story is told. and at last you need to conclusion the readers must know when the story has ended. the beginning and conclusion are good if they hook the reader on the story and should be interseting. you must also know your audience well who are trying to talk to through the story ie kids, young adult, adult You can ask your english teacher about more story writing tips. there could be a whole big documentary i am writing this as a 10th grader (having learnt all this writing essay process in 9th grade) i don't know what grade you are in but if you don't understand something what i have written please you may message me. about adding a conversation, here is how you should do it: (hit TAB) Angella says, "I do not like eating cookies". or "I want to go to sleep", David said. or (you can also use below format) Angella: "I have not had pasta from days". David: "Oh! I How much I love pasta"! In all cases above any punctuation that is ending your sentence you should write it outside of the quotation marks. if you want to use quotation marks inside a qoute, then you can David said, "I can't believe that Angella thinks that 'I hate her'". so double qoutation marks first and if you want to use another qoute inside it then use single qoutation inside it. I made all the sentences so don't please complain about it. Again you should confirm with your English Teacher and he/she might give you more information about it. Source: I learnt all this in the 9th grade English class.
Well i agree with the other person. They described it perfectly. Here are some other tips...write down any ideas you have in a notebook for later uses, proofread over and over,be sure that your sentences have good transitions and the start of them is varied so you dont for example start every sentence with I or He or some name. Share your stories with friends and family, two minds are better then one and it can only improve your writing. Bye,have a nice day and i hope this helps.
those are some really good additional tips and "brief" too @rebelchick777 @Roku I hope this will help you a lot with your writing or it has already. Good Luck!!! If you are sharing your story with someone you can either tell it to them but usually I give it to them in written so they can help me with the mistakes that I have made. When someone is listening to your story they might not be fully listening to you and they might not be able to give you a good feedback on your story. Your story is written but if you need to tell your story its a good skill practice by telling it than giving it in written form. this builds your story-telling skills and you might end up memorizing your story and would be able to tell it in more interesting way.
thanks a lot guys these tips will really come in handy
