\[ \ \ \ 3x+7y=-1\\ \ \ \ 2x+3y=6\\ \text{First, multiply by the former and latter by -2 and 3, respectively.}\\ \ \ \ -6x-14y=2\\ \ \ \ 6x+9y=18\\ \text{Combine the equations.}\\ \ \ \ -5y=20\\ \ \ \ y=-4\\ \text{Now solve for }x.\\ \ \ \ 2x+3y=6\\ \ \ \ 2x=6+3(4)\\ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ =18\\ \ \ \ x=9 \]
So that the x terms will cancel out.
