Find the slope of the line containing the given pair of points. If the line is undefined, state so. Please be sure to show all of your work. (5, 3) and (8, -4)

OpenStudy (aripotta):

there's the slop formula, do you know what to do now?

OpenStudy (aripotta):

slope*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do I put the formula together like your example

OpenStudy (aripotta):

yea. set it up and post it here, i'll see if you did it correctly

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm so lost you choose a set of numbers and show me because I was trying to have 5+3 added together over 8+-4 and I don't thank that is right

OpenStudy (aripotta):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok I understand now I'm sorry I'm so dumb when it comes to this

OpenStudy (aripotta):

lol that's alright. and you're not stupid, you're just learning

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but how did it come to a minus when you did 5 and 8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

does it make it undefind

OpenStudy (aripotta):

one sec, lemme look this up. the slope is 7/-3

OpenStudy (aripotta):

the slope has to have a denominator of 0 to make it undefined. our denominator is -3. so it's not undefined

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanks a lot I really do mean it

OpenStudy (aripotta):

no problem :)
