First, you add 16 to both sides so it's be like this
72+16=x/-3+(-16)+16
88=x/-3 then multiply -3 to both sides
(-3)88=x/-3(-3)
-264=x
What I did is I added the inverse of -16 to both sides and multiplied the inverse of -3.
