2m+5n=12 -6n+m=-11

hartnn (hartnn):

Multiply second equation by -2 and tell me what u get.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

uh 12n+2m=22? i don't understand where the -2 came from though

hartnn (hartnn):

sure 2m or -2m ?? i wanted to make the co-efficient of m as -2(the co-efficient of m in first equation is +2), so that when i add 2 equations, m gets eliminated (-2m+2m=0) got this ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhh okay. what do i do now?

hartnn (hartnn):

2nd equation : 12n-2m=22 1st equation : 5n +2m =12 ADD them.
