Please help! Use a straightedge and a compass to construct a triangle with 2 sides having the same length. Describe the process you used. Now use a protractor to measure each angle of the triangle. What are the measures of each angle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh god I love these. ok, what you want to do is make a line, doesnt matter what the line is, just make and old line

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now go ahead and make a point, pretty much anywhere off of that line

OpenStudy (anonymous):

dw:1348444977679:dw

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now put your compass at any old length, and centering at that point you drew, make a circle.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

dw:1348445041186:dw

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the points where the circle crosses the line are both exactly the same distance from the center point. this gives any line drawn from the center point to those points the exact same distance

OpenStudy (anonymous):

dw:1348445174150:dw

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so lines a and b are the same length, and you can erase everything else if you want because you're now a badass like that.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

any questions?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh okay. I believe I understand now. Thank you. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no prob brohaha. enjoy the maths!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks, you too!
