how do you factor 1-8a^6?

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

here's a hint. the formula for difference of two cubes is \[\huge a^3 - b^3 \implies (a-b)(a^2 + ab + b^2)\] does that help? or do you need more help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ya i still dont understand- it says that in my book but i dont understand it.

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

here's another hint \[\huge 1 \implies 1^3\] \[\huge 8a^6 \implies (2a^2)^3\] do you get what i'm implying?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alright thanks so you just find the cubed root of the numbers which represent to a and b and just plug it into the equation right?

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

right
