The advantages?
It can save your life! If you leave your oven on at night, and forget to turn it off, if you have working smoke detectors, you won't burn to death!
The disadvantages?
It can be overly sensitive, depending on how it was setup. Of course, this is more than a nuisance than anything, compared to the advantages that it has. So there you have it!
