I wrote an essay on the importance of grammar. Unfortunately my grammar sucks. Can anyone enlighten me? Also a debate would be cool if you think proper grammar is always necessary. Many thanks to anyone that helps :)

The wrong meaning can be conveyed if incorrect or confusing writing conventions are used. Are grammar, punctuation, vocabulary, etc. important in the following sentences?: 1. Let's eat, Grandma. 2. Let's eat Grandma. So, I think that proper writing needs attention. But, at the same time, it isn't critically important to convey meaning in every situation. It all depends on the sentence at hand. By the way, let's spare Grandma this time!

Well, I would think that grammar is really important for a good understanding of what you want to say, especially if you are working in social sciences. If you don`t write in a very clear way, people could understand you wrong and when are quoting you (or worst, evaluating you) then they would believe that you are saying something you have not. And well, I believe that you already have your essay's topic: is it always neccesary to have a good grammar? You can expose pose pros- and cons about that, it would be a very nice

First of all, if you are trying to play-down the importance of grammar, your title needs to be changed. As it stands, it looks as though you are debating FOR the importance of grammar. Secondly, it seems scattered. You need THREE main points to cover. Why should proper grammar be given leeway? This information, along with your thesis, should all be mentioned in your introduction. Tell your readers what they are about to read. Then, in your three body paragraphs, you will discuss your three main points. Each point should be given it's own paragraph. You have one paragraph dedicated to an article that agrees with your point of view. That information is helpful, but it should not have it's own paragraph. You need to fit your articles into the paragraph covering the main point they coincide with. Lastly, your conclusion should restate your thesis and your three main points. Summarize. Remind your readers of what they have just read.

I appreciate all the help. I have seen very similar ideas when i was researching 4 this paper. @peeps points out some significatnt problems in my essay... Can anyone expand upon the problems in my essay?

I changed the title to Is Grammar Necessary?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@metaweb20 I agree. But the reader should still be able to get the message. Your example is just a sentence, while a piece of literature may have more clues for the reader as to the question of grandma being eaten lol
