Simon made a wooden frame for his Living Skills project. It is 30cm long and 20 cm wide. The diagonal is 36 cm long. Is is frame a rectangle ? Why?

OpenStudy (nubeer):

apply pythagoras .. Dia^2 = 30^2 + 20^2 Dia ^2 = 1300 Dia = 36.05

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know it isn't a rectangle....but why??

OpenStudy (nubeer):

oops sorry didn't see it .. well if it was a rectangle then the value would be exact 36

OpenStudy (anonymous):

owh...but its a four point question. so the answer shud be in four sentences

OpenStudy (nubeer):

you have to show all these calculations too that rectangle diagonal is not exact 36. this would be also carrying marks i think 2 marks for solving 1 for your "yes" or "no" and 1 mark for explanation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope....solving has no marks.... 1 mark for the yes or no and 4 marks for the explanation...

OpenStudy (nubeer):

lol that's bit tricky .. even i dont know what to right for 4 marks.. As per calculated the value of the diagonal is not exact 36 that means the frame is not a rectangle. it can be rohmbous or (hmm forgot name)its kind of titled rectangle.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a parallelogram...... :)

OpenStudy (nubeer):

lol yeah :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:) ....itz ok...i'll try to figure it out myself....
