Augustus focused on the construction of a more efficient aquaduct system for rome. this would be comparable to cleaner water and health which modern politicans focus on. He passed marriage laws against adultry and gave women more rights. In modern times, this owuld be comparable to civil rights legislature. He promoted civil defenseby waging war with the germanic barbarians, comparable to military action in the middle east today. he established the praetorian guard whos job ws to protect the emperor and the government. This woul relate to national security which is a big topic in modern times.

you can get alot of comparisons from augustus's political career. These comparisons ar so easy because our government was founded partially from the roman form of government, so many decisions he faced would be similiar to modern day political decisions.
