1. Solve the system by substitution.

Take your first equation and solve for y. Then substitute that in for the other equation to solve for x. What ever you get for x put in and solve for y.

So if you solve the first one you subtract 2x from both sides to get y = -2x - 11. Now substitute this in for y of the second equation and there's x. Then put x into either equation and you have y.
