Choose the correct simplification of (3a^2 + 8a − 4) + (5a^2 − 4).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

8a^2 + 8a −2a^2 + 8a 8a^2 + 8a − 8 −2a^2 + 8a − 8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Those are the choices. :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first take away the parentheses and combine like terms 3a^2 + 8a -4 + 5a^2 -4 = 8a^2 +8a -8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhhhh. okay its that simple? thats all you have to do? :o

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yup, not much you can do with it if those are your choices. it's just a matter of keeping the signs where they are. the other choices would be true if you had a negative in front of the parentheses or something
