Does any one know how to use java?

I want to run java from a portable device. Is it possible?

It depends on whether the platform has an implementation of the JRE.

The Java Development Kit isn't too useful if the machine doesn't have the Java Runtime Environment also called the Java Virtual Machine to execute the code you develop.

You can download the JDK and JRE from http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html. However, it won't run on your portable device unless it is a Windows, Mac, Linux or Solaris platform.
