I think you would need to get like terms together 1st so you have the problem -23=-2a-10a +2a +2a which now leaves -23=-8a? divide by -8 under both which equals 2.875 i would round?

well you have to add like terms so i dont think thats right

you do have to combine like terms so you would combine -2a + a first

so then you would have -23 = -10 - 1a
