Start by multiplying the 2.4 times 0.5, like @ettenelalovesnutella said, you should get the multiplication out of the way first.

Thanks after I got 1.2 you simply go left to right? I thought I would have to add 7.1 then subtract 9.5 and then 1.3?

We simply mean that once you have multiplied 2.4 and 0.5, you would then go back to the beginning and start again, only this time add or subtract.
Therefore:
9.5-7.1+1.2-1.3=
2.4+1.2-1.3=
3.6-1.3=
2.3
