Evaluate the expression described below if the number is 4 the difference between a number squared and the number?

OpenStudy (cgreenwade2000):

Write out the expression without the 4 first. Use x as "the number"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

umm :/ huh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the answers are : 0 4 12 20

OpenStudy (cgreenwade2000):

Look for keywords there. A number simply means x. Difference means subtract. And I'm not just going to give you the answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would it be 4? :/

OpenStudy (cgreenwade2000):

the DIFFERENCE between a number (4) squared and the number (4) We would write it as 4^2- 4 Which you can solve. You just need to read and Identify mathematical operations while reading.

OpenStudy (cgreenwade2000):

Note that 4^2 does not equal 8 . 4^2 means 4 times 4.

oooooohhh 12? :/
