through how many radians does he minute hand of a clock turn during a 6-minute period?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how many radians in a full circle? How much (as a fraction) is 6 minutes out of a 60-minute hour?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i don't know

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont know how many radians are in a full circle, i guess thats worry some sign haha. but and like 6/60?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, at least you got that :) So the minute hand moves 6/60 or 1/10 of the way around the clock, right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes i understand that part

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there are "2 pi " radians in a circle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so if the minute hand moves (1/10) of a circle, it moves (1/10) of 2 pi radians, or 2/10 pi radians, or pi/5 radians.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, i will remember that for the future

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you recall perimeter of a circle = "2 pi times radius" Same 2 pi... "goes all the way around :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got it now! thank you so much :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it's sort of like "360 degrees in a circle" the minute hand would move (1/10) of 360 degrees or 36 degrees in 6 minutes. 36 degrees is equivalent to pi/5 radians

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohkay:) well i have another question, do you think you could help me?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I can try :) Please post it in another separate question... (and shameless plug... ) if you like the help, you can "thank me" with the little medal things near the "best response" buttons on the answers above :)
