OpenStudy (jwheele1):

Were horses introduced to the western hemisphere or did they already exist before settlers arrived? In a debate with a history professor. Please provide sources for your answers (Not wikipedia).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

They were introduced, because it was stated that Europeans brought over a few horses when they landed in NA. The horses then were set free and thrived thereafter on the landscape. Proof of this would be that American Indian folklore/art began depicting horses only after Columbus landed.

OpenStudy (jwheele1):

@Sheng do you have a source for such an image?

OpenStudy (jwheele1):

or where you read it?

OpenStudy (jwheele1):

Thank you for your source. It will be difficult to argue one professor from another, lol.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, but I'm pretty sure I can find one if I looked for it. It's a well known fact that horses were not around until Europeans brought it, it soon revolutionized the Native American's way of life.

OpenStudy (jwheele1):

Well this is what she is arguing but as a "historian" I cant say things like "It's a well known fact that." We must use evidence. AND in my class we are supposed to be historians.
