The perimeter of a rectangle is 54cm. One side x cm long, and the other is 6 cm longer. a) Form an equation involving x b) Solve the equation, and write down the length of each of the sides. Help me please..I'm confused.

OpenStudy (kaiz122):

formula for the perimeter of a triangle is P= 2l+2w

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah

OpenStudy (kaiz122):

what do you mean by "the other is 6 cm longer"? is it that it's 6 cm longer than the other side or what?

OpenStudy (kaiz122):

where l is the length and w is the width(the other side). in this case, l=x and w=x+6(since it's 6cm longer than the other) then just substitute that to the formula and you'll get the equation. P=???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well that's what the question is.. it shows x+6 on the top of the rectangle and on the right it shows an x

OpenStudy (kaiz122):

|dw:1348663594366:dw| is that it?
