what do you mean by "the other is 6 cm longer"? 
is it that it's 6 cm longer than the other side or what?

where l is the length and w is the width(the other side).
in this case, l=x and w=x+6(since it's 6cm longer than the other)

then just substitute that to the formula and you'll get the equation.
