How do you solve X2-2x+8 with 4=X?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Just replace x=4 on your equation and compute the numeric values, \[(4)^2-2*(4)+8\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmmm, there is a big X and a small x, is that just a typo

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think they are supposed to be the same - sorry:0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, but you need to provide more information regarding your problem. Is it in this form:\[x^2-2x+8\]or\[2x-2x+8\]I am sure that you don't have the second case because then there would be nothing to solve.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It is the first example

OpenStudy (anonymous):

With x=4

Then just check my first post, and calculate as I have done.

Thank you very much - you have been a great help
