why did thousands of people flee away from europe to america in the 19th century?give any 3 reasons

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Political freedoms, Religious freedoms, and the prospect/thrill/adventure of coming to the "new world."

@Kungpow I believe that's more in the 16th-17th century. (My sincere apologies if I am wrong) Well in the 1930's-1940's Hitler was in power. During the Holocaust many Jews were trying to escape and immigrate to America or some other anti-nazi country

Good catch. My apologies. I read the question wrong. You are correct, the oppression of the Third Reich (Hitler and crew) upon the Jews in Germany and Austria was a big motivation to come to America. Another was from the Great Potato Famine in Ireland. It was their main staple of food and once that got diseased, Ireland scattered or died. The last major cause was the Asian folk who came to build the Transatlantic Railroad.

Actually you are mostly correct. Political freedom and religious freedom are a major reason why the jews chose to immigrate
