HELP ? http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=4re421&s=6

OpenStudy (paxpolaris):

what are you thinking it is ....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im NOT sure. maybe perpendilur bisector?

OpenStudy (paxpolaris):

how do you know that BDis perpendicular to AC?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

idk.

OpenStudy (paxpolaris):

it is not shown ... all we know is that BD bisects AC in half. that makes it a median ...but that is not one of the options

OpenStudy (paxpolaris):

we can also rule out altitude .... because that also requires it to be perpendicular

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so angle bisecor?

OpenStudy (paxpolaris):

Right... BD cuts \(\angle ABC\) into two equal part

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay thanks

OpenStudy (paxpolaris):

|dw:1348683434764:dw| Although it is not shown ... if a median is also an angle bisector in a triangle ... it HAS to also be the altitude AND the perpendicular bisector ... and the triangle must be either isosceles OR equilateral. so, technically speaking any option other than vertex is correct
