Given polygon BRAIN~POWEQ what is the perimeter of BRAIN? A. 23.50 B. 58.75 C. 35.25 D. 57.25

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is your answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

please help someone ..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

add BR, RI, IA, AN, NB

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what do i do for the "y+5" though ? i can't add y ..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is so confusing .. can you at least set it up in the formula how i should add it together ? i don't get it ....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't understand either.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

add y+5+7.5+12.5+17.5++10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

also add 4+14z+4.5+3+2x+1 for the other polygon compare them as they are same

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but it only asks what the perimeter is for BRAIN . and what do i put in for y ? i can't just add y with the numbers .

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Does the question provide any other information?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just the picture .

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Maybe you have to make some sort of ratio if we assume they are similar shapes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

equate 2x+1=12.5, 14z=7.5, 5+y=4.5, that should help you out

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes i thought of that but 10 does not = 4 nor does 7.5 = 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

think think,you are pretty close

OpenStudy (anonymous):

add up all the sides. ANd use pythogorean theorom where necessary to get a side.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pythagorean_theorem I still don't get it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

same .

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ell it seems (on first look) they did not supply enough numerical data...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

please explain the pythagorean theorem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

these are not right triangles so how does that apply?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can someone give me a formula ? i don't understand . ):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0HYHG3fuzvk Can someone please explain how this would apply to this problem?
