A grocer buys food from three suppliers. The suppliers deliver every 5days, 6days, and 7days.All three came today. In how many days will they all deliver on the same day again?

zepdrix (zepdrix):

So one supplier comes on the 5th day, 10th day, 15th day, and so on... another on the 6th, 12th, 18th, and so on... last supplier comes on the 7th, 14th, and so on... So we want to know when they will all visit on the same day. Hmmm so eventually they'll overlap :) but when? One thing you can do is simply multiply 5 * 6 * 7, that will tell you that in 210 days they will all visit on the same day. But they want to know the NEXT time they'll all visit again, so there might be a lower number hmmmmmmm :O

zepdrix (zepdrix):

One of the things I notice, is that 5 and 7 are prime numbers, so they wont have any factors in common. So you won't be able to break down 210 any lower. :D

hmmmm ok....

zepdrix (zepdrix):

confusing? c:

Yes.

:P

My parents think it will be the 600th day maybe

zepdrix (zepdrix):

the guy who visits every 5 days --> after 42 visits he will finally meet up with the other suppliers (42x5) = 210 days the guy who visits every 6 days --> after 35 visits he will finally meet up with the other suppliers (35x6) = 210 days the guy who visits every 7 days --> after 30 visits he will finally meet up with the other suppliers (30x7) = 210 days The product of the 3 numbers should give you the right answer i think <:D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok Im thinking....................

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So the answer isss....210^3=9261000 or 210+210+210=630/ 210x3= 630

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Its 620 isnt it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i mean 630

zepdrix (zepdrix):

Hmm No i dont think so :( it's not asking for a total number of days that they EACH took. It's saying: If today they all visited, How many days will pass until this happens again? 210 days on the calendar will pass before their visits line up again :O Yes, it's 210 days for each person, but that is still only 210 days total (since they're all living the same day at the same time XD lol)

hmmm
