Which ordered pair is a solution to the inequality y > x + 1? A. (1, 5) B. (0, -2) C. (5, -1) D. (2, 2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hi.. have you come to an epiphany or would you still like a bit of help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well i don't really know where to start first on this equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

try just substituting the given coordinates and see if the numbers make a true statement. for instance, C. has the given coordinates of (5,-1). upon substituting 5 for x and -1 for y, the inequality becomes -1>5+1.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is -1>5+1 a true statement?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in other words, is -1>6?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

still there or did I lose ya?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

guess i lost ya. i hope that helps. oh... and C. is definitely not the right answer. :)) take care

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait what

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are you still there?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its A.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that is the perfect response. nice! the inequality turns out 5>2. a true statement.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i hope you have a nice evening. take care.
