OpenStudy (aripotta):

is that the entire question? because i don't get it...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I posted a example

OpenStudy (aripotta):

ok, well, the other triangle would have to have congruent sides

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

well you need to prove congruency 1st.... so compare the triangles and identify the corresponding sides that are equal. once that is done, then you can equate corresponding sides which will be equal in length in congrent triangles e.g. if you had a triangle, say DEC that was congruent and the corresponding side to AB measured 18 the you can say 2x + 6 = 18 and then solve for x

i missed a part

Thats the whole problem ^

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

ok... so looking at the problems AB = DE (given) BE = EF (given) AC = DF (given) so the triangles are congruent by SSS test then AB = DE corresponding sides in congruent triangles. so you can equate the lengths 2x + 6 = 2x + 1 which may be an error in your diagram because if the lengths are correct you'll end up with 6 = 1
