If you receive a stop sign ticket on your bicycle, and it says if not admitting to being guilty, you promise to appear on this court date, if i pay the fine, does it mean i must still appear in court?

i just got a ticket last week and on the back he check marked a box that explain i could either pay the ticket with in 7 days and not appear in court OR not pay it , go to court and I might be relieved on the offense entirely...if not id still have to pay it
