Identify the amplitude and the period of the function c(x) = 3cos (x + π).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

amplitude =3 period=2pi/1 =2pi

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you i really appreciate how did u get it iam takin trig online and iam strugglin?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the amplitude is the number infront of the trig function, in this case cosine even if its is 3 or -3 the amplitude is still 3 the period is 2pi divided by the number multiplied by x, in this case, 1x, so 1 except for tangent and cotangent in which it is 1pi divided by the number multiplied by x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so if i were to do a problem like this Identify the amplitude and the period of the function q(x) = -sin (π/2 x). the amplitude would be -1 and pie/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

amplitude is 1 period is 2pi/2= pi
