hello guys, can you give me a reflection about the earth's magnetism? thank you.

Earth's magnetism, even after so much modernization remains a mystery. We, of course have come up with theories, trying to explain the exact nature of earth's magnetism. I mean, the research is still on.. Earth's outer core is liquid and inner core solid (consisting primarily of iron and nickel). We all know about convection. The liquid outer core is no exception, as there's a temperature gradient (hotter towards the inner core). This convection in the o.c creates currents which magnetizes the magnetic i.c. (just like : one gets a magnetized needle if a current carrying wire is wound aroud it). This is the georeactor theory. The magnetic field hence created around the earth is actually life-saving in its significance. It shiields us from solar winds which would have otherwise turned earth into a hell.

The earth's magnetic field can be roughly be assumed to resemble a bar magnet with its south pole near the geographic North pole and north pole near the geographic South pole. We get the evidence from the usual compass. Let me tell you that earth's magnetic field or poles are not fixed. The intensity haas been found to fluctuate and also polarity reversals have been observed (though only at geological time scales).
