Which of the following was a consequence of the First Continental Congress? Rioting destroyed shops and homes. More colonists became politically active. The colonies won independence from Britain. Parliament passed more oppressive tax laws.
The answer is b. more colonists became politically active and d. Parliament passed more oppressive tax laws. The delegates to the first Continental Congress met in Philadelphia on Sept. 5, 1774. They did not want to break with Great Britain. They hoped for a settlement with the British government. Although they did call for a boycott of all trade with Britain until Parliament repealed their taxes, and especially the Coercive Acts. But in April occurred the Battles of Lexington and Concord. When they met again in Phila. on May 10, 1775 at the second Continental Congress they were in a different mood. They voted for independence from the Mother Country. I hope that this has been some help to you.
