In triangle ABC, AB=12, BC=10, and AC=14. What is the perimeter of triangle DEF?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

36

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you explain please?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the perimeter is the length of the entire outside of the triangle, if you draw it out and label everything it's clear that what you need to do is add up the three given lengths

OpenStudy (anonymous):

12+10+14=36

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So DEF is the same triangle as ABC?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Are you just trying to be funny?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Um...no. I was serious.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok well you said nothing about triangle DEF so there is clearly not enough information given to solve your problem.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thats what my teacher gave me.... maybe its a typo or something?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

most likely. if it says nothing about it and there is no triangle DEF you obviously can't do anything
