For what values of the angle θ between the two vectors is their scalar product positive? ___ ° ≤ θ < ___° For what values of θ is their scalar product negative? ___° < θ < ___°

OpenStudy (amistre64):

scalar product seems like a seldom used term. does this go by other names? dot product perhaps?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes it does

OpenStudy (amistre64):

good, i thought i was going insane for a moment :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol

OpenStudy (amistre64):

lets test this out, dot 1,1 with 0,1 ; its a 45 degree angle between them, what do we get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right angle ?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

|dw:1348780711881:dw|

OpenStudy (amistre64):

1,1 0,1 ---- 0+1 = 1 so, 0 to 90 will give us positive results; which means that 90 to 180 give negatives

OpenStudy (amistre64):

.... <1,0> , either way :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhhhhh wow thank you i appreciate it :)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

when in doubt, do simple checks :) good luck

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok i will :) thanks
