Whats the similarity between historical solar system and current models solar system model?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Historical brings me back to the days of copernicus, galileo, kepler, etc...a time when astronomy had a more earth-centric view of the cosmos. Despite what these amazing thinkers and scientists in their own right believed, many were either persecuted, or silenced, when they tried explain to the scientific community that the sun, not the earth, is the center of our solar system. Copernicus kept his findings secret, till the day of his death, when he finally published his research. In a nut shell, our current model is the accurate model, which rightly places the sun in the middle of all the action; historically, it used to be the earth as the center. Of course, mathematically, you can really regard planet, and its point of origin, as the center, and work the remaining planetary dynamics from there...but genius doesn't complicate...it simplifies ;)
