Help 14x = 2 (5x + 14)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I would divide by 2 first instead of distributing. This simplifies the expression

OpenStudy (anonymous):

subtract 5x from both sides to get the x terms together

OpenStudy (anonymous):

divide by 2 to both sides get rid of the coefficient.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

14x = 2 (5x + 14) 4x = 28 x = 7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I would do the distrubti property first multiply 2*5x then do 2*14

Thank You all very much very helpful!

@Brewers121 it's personal preference but I find that is two steps compared to my one.
