HELP MEH. (Slope word problem)
The cage that you keep your rabbit in has a perimeter of 118 inches. Let x be the cage's width (in inches) and let y be its length (in inches)
a. Write and equation for the perimeter b. Find the intercepts of the graph of the equation you wrote. Then graph
So I got a which is 2x + 2y = 118...that's right?1
And then y=-x+59
But how to I turn it into slope? My friends got 59 and 59 but I don't understand D:
a) You know the perimeter is the length of all sides. There is 2 sides for the width and 2 sides for the length that add up to 118 118 = 2x _2y is right.
x=-1 y=59
+***
And there aren't any negatives in the graph picture...
I suck at slope...
y = -1/2x+59 that should be your equation.
-x**** sorry.
But then what do I do. D:
Now you need to find the intercepts so y = -x+59 Let x be 0 y= -(0) + 59 y = 59 (0,59) y = -x+59 Let y be 0 0=-x+59 x=59 (59,0)
OH. Right, I have to substitute it...
And then I do it with y-intercepts?
:3 I see...
y=59
Now you have two coordinates: (59,0) and (0,59) and you're able to graph it from here in the positive.
thank you. :3
No Problem :)
I can't tell when to do that...
