does f(X)=(1/x^2-3) have a discontinuity at root 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes because a fraction can never be divided my zero, so x^2-3 can't equal zero. so x^2 can't equal 3. and if x is the sqaure root of 3 then it does.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks, wasnt sure..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no problem, you check to see is that value of x would cause any rules (such as dividing by zero or taking the square root of a negative) to be broken

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait.. its false
