PLease help! The endpoints of segment EF are E(-2, 3) and F(5, -3). Find the coordinates of the midpoint of EF.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

a midpoint is an average, do you know how to find an average?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To be honest, no I don't. I haven't done this in a while, so I've forgotten.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

an average is just the sum of everything divided by how many there are. you have 2 points; so add them up and divide the results by 2 F(5, -3) +E(-2, 3) ------- ? , ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh, ok. Thanks very much!

OpenStudy (amistre64):

youre welcome, but thats just teh first step; i want to make sure you understand the process can you tell me what we get when we add E and F together?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sure. Hold on a sec.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So, 3 and 0. Is tht right?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

very good :) the last step is to divide each of those in half sooo the midpoint is: (3/2, 0)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

K. Thanks again. This helps a bunch.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

good luck
