here you know that both sides are positive you can square both sides then solve or you can draw a graph, that works with all modulus questions

1. If you add 1 to both sides, then divide both sides by 3, you end up with |2x+4| = 4 2. From there, you inverse the absolute value to get two equations: 2x + 4 = 4 2x + 4 = -4 3. Lastly, you solve each of those two equations for x. Any questions?
